Lavender Marans - Project

Started "from scratch" here on the farm, we are developing a line of Lavender Marans based on Solid Black Marans.  2022 will mark the third generation of this project, and probably the most exciting.  This project has created some super fun hens who lay a gorgeous pink/heavy bloom egg - this was not expected!  In 2022, we will develop several distinct lines from this project to further improve the Lavender Marans line and to separately work on the heavy bloom line.  While we LOVE lavender colored birds here (in case you couldn't tell!), we are still focused on producing a bird that identifies as a Marans and satisfies dual-purpose characteristics, in addition to chasing chocolate egg color!

Many Lavender Marans lines in circulation today are based on Black Copper Marans, and often show streaky straw-colored leakage in the hackles from the copper.  Our birds have are a consistent lavender color, due to the solid black Marans base.
