Big Red Acres is a regenerative agriculture farm dedicated to producing pasture-raised livestock that every family/homestead can use to support themselves sustainably and independently.
Our sustainable poultry (chicken and ducks) breeds fall in one of two categories:
Excellent year-round egg production
Dual-purpose - respectable growth rate for the freezer, respectable egg production, and tendencies towards broodiness to enable the flock to continue reproducing on its own.
Regardless of the breed, pleasant personalities, ability to integrate well with other birds, robust health, and voracious foraging are key consideration in our selection process. Our pastured poultry are supplemented non-gmo, soy-free, corn-free feed for optimum production and fertility.
We also proudly work with Kunekune pigs, with an emphasis on growth rate with pasture as the primary feed input, as well as minimal rooting, pleasant personalities, and strong mothering instincts. Our herd's grazing is supplemented with non-gmo feed. These animals are so interactive, it's amazing we get any projects done!!
